Pune Gangland: Three Accomplices of Gangster Sharad Mohol Apprehended for Extortion Attempt

The Haveli police have successfully apprehended three associates of notorious gangster Sharad Mohol. The trio is accused of attempting to extort Rs 50,000 from a resident in Bhugaon.

The suspects have been identified as Hemant Pandurang Dabhekar (24) of Sutardara in Kothrud, Bade Khan Daval Shaikh (20), and Amit Pathak (23), both residents of Kelewadi in Kothrud.

The complaint in this matter was lodged by Namdev Pasalkar of Vadgaon Budruk with the Haveli police station on Thursday.

Accused Allegedly Posed as Gang Members and Demanded Money

According to senior inspector Shivajirao Deokar of the Haveli police station, the suspects targeted Pasalkar on June 13.

Hemant Pandurang Dabhekar approached Pasalkar at his residence, identifying himself as a member of the Sharad Mohol gang.

He informed Pasalkar that the gang required funds and demanded Rs 50,000 from him.

Dabhekar then set a deadline for Pasalkar to arrange the money by Saturday, threatening dire consequences if the payment was not made.

Pasalkar Reports Extortion Attempt to the Police

Feeling threatened, Namdev Pasalkar promptly filed a complaint against the trio with the Haveli police.

Assistant Inspector Namdeo Kauthale of the Haveli police station apprehended Hemant Pandurang Dabhekar on Friday morning. The remaining two suspects, Bade Khan Daval Shaikh and Amit Pathak, were also arrested on the same day, specifically in the evening.

Hemant Pandurang Dabhekar, one of the apprehended individuals, has a history of criminal activities. He is registered in police records for cases involving murder and dacoity with the Kothrud police.

Criminal Activities by Gangster Mohol and Associate

Notably, Sharad Mohol and another accomplice, Alok Bhalerao, were allegedly involved in the strangulation of suspected Indian Mujahideen operative Qateel Siddiqui within the high-security ‘anda cell’ of Yerawada Central Jail on June 8.
