Pune Gangland: Police Tracing Assailants and Their Abandoned Vehicle near Deep Bungalow Chowk

Following the shocking incident, law enforcement authorities swiftly initiated a nakabandi (roadblock) across various parts of the city. The police have discovered the getaway vehicle used by the assailants near Deep Bungalow Chowk.
Eyewitnesses Detail Four Suspects:
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-I), Dnyaneshwar Phadtare, eyewitnesses at the scene recounted that the assailants responsible for the crime numbered four. They were reportedly traveling in a red Maruti Zen, which was later found abandoned near Deep Bungalow Chowk.
Search for the Culprits:
Phadtare elaborated, stating, “We are currently pursuing leads based on the descriptions provided by eyewitnesses. As of now, the identities of the culprits remain undisclosed. Our investigative efforts encompass a comprehensive exploration of all potential angles.”
The Fatal Encounter:
Providing further insights into the incident, Phadtare revealed, “At approximately 11:30 am, Shekhar Sadashiv Waghmare was en-route to Chaphekar Chowk, driving his Wagon R with intentions to head towards Lonavala. The assailants, numbering four, pursued him closely in their own vehicle. Employing a swift and ruthless maneuver, they aligned their car with Waghmare’s and discharged a single point-blank shot. The impact of this gunshot caused Waghmare to lose control over his vehicle, ultimately leading to a collision with a stationary private bus stationed near the Agricultural College. The aftermath left Waghmare incapacitated and immobilized.”
Unassuming Scene:
The unfolding incident initially bore the semblance of a vehicular accident. Bystanders who witnessed the events mistook the incident for a road collision.
A traffic policeman stationed at Mhasoba Gate Chowk alerted the police control room, triggering a rapid response from law enforcement personnel.
Tragic Outcome:
Efforts to save Waghmare’s life were in vain. He was promptly transported to Sassoon Hospital, yet, his arrival at the medical facility was met with a grim pronouncement of his demise.
The chilling event marked the abrupt and violent end of Shekhar Sadashiv Waghmare’s life, leaving behind a community rattled by the swift and calculated attack.
