In response to their alleged involvement in a murder case and subsequent evasion from authorities, the Pune rural police have launched procedures to label gangster Gajanan alias Gaja Marne and his 11 associates as proclaimed offenders.
The police are also working towards attaching their properties, aiming to bring justice to the incident.
Ghawal Gang Member Murdered, Marne and Aides Accused
On November 3, Gajanan Marne and his group reportedly hacked Pappu alias Santosh Gawde, a member of the Ghaywal gang, to death at Lavale in Mulshi.
The gruesome act was motivated by an ongoing feud with gangster Nilesh Ghaywal. Sub-divisional police officer Vivek Pansare, heading the investigation, informed, “Ten police teams have been dedicated to the search for Marne and his companions. We’ve decided to declare them proclaimed offenders and proceed with property attachments.”
Summons to Gangsters’ Families Initiated
In their efforts, the police have commenced the process of dispatching summons to the family members of the gang members in question.
This legal step underscores the seriousness with which the authorities are addressing the case.
Details of the Murder and Subsequent Escalation
Gawde was tragically killed when an SUV struck his motorcycle as he, along with his nephew Nilesh Jadhav and friend Manoj Bhilare, was returning to Pune.
Subsequently, a group of about 10 armed men, including Gaja Marne, arrived at the scene in another vehicle.
They executed Gawde before fleeing. While Jadhav and Bhilare managed to escape, Gawde’s life was cut short.
Crime Branch and Local Police Coordinate for Resolution
Aside from the relentless search efforts conducted by nine teams under the guidance of three inspectors, the local crime branch is conducting parallel investigations into the case.
The collaborative approach aims to employ diverse strategies to expedite the resolution process.
