NAGPUR, September 29, 2015

Despite diligent efforts, the police department has struggled to uncover the whereabouts of Wasim Cheera, a notorious gangster believed to be the orchestrator of the murder of his former ally turned adversary, Nawab Anwar alias Chandy.

The grim discovery of Anwar’s decapitated remains near a canal in Neri village within Kamptee tehsil last week has raised a series of enigmatic questions.

Decapitated Remains of Anwar Found Beside Canal

The unsettling incident came to the forefront when the dismembered body of Nawab Anwar was found adjacent to a canal in Neri village, located within Kamptee tehsil.

The grisliness of the scene has intensified the intrigue surrounding the case.

Wasim’s Evasion of Police Dragnet and Puzzling Motive

The main suspect in this murder case, Wasim Cheera, has managed to elude the police dragnet thus far.

His suspected role as the mastermind behind the crime has further mystified the situation. The motive driving this gruesome murder remains shrouded in secrecy as the police struggle to unravel it.

Challenges Faced by Police Departments and Units

Complications have arisen in the course of the investigation, with a missing complaint filed at the Lakadganj police station on September 23.

Surprisingly, no concrete action ensued, leaving the reasons for this inaction unclear.

The bifurcation of state police operations from August 1 has diverted the investigative units of police stations and the crime branch to focus on law and order duties like Ganpati bandobast.

This redirection has caused delays in addressing crucial matters.

Family Hints at Murder, Gang Dynamics Come into Play

A crucial aspect in this case involves the neglect of indications provided by Anwar’s family that foul play was involved.

Additionally, the rivalry dynamics within the gang landscape are being examined. The crime branch’s involvement commenced after the discovery of Anwar’s body.

Suspects linked to the feast shared by Wasim, Anwar, and others are currently under scrutiny.

Wasim’s Criminal History and Previous Charges

Wasim’s criminal history includes a 2013 arrest by a Yashodhara Nagar police team in Pune. This incident led to his subsequent booking under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) for his alleged participation in a gang war with Tirupati Bhoge and his group at Shanti Nagar.

This violent clash saw numerous rounds of gunfire exchanged, resulting in the MCOCA charges against approximately 27 individuals involved.

Continued Criminal Pursuits and Escalating Rivalry

Following his release from jail, Wasim purportedly resumed his criminal activities. Notably, he was recently booked for extortion by the Yashodhara Nagar police.

Anwar, who once enjoyed Wasim’s trust, is believed to have provoked Wasim’s ire by developing ties with factions within the rival Bhoge gang while Wasim was incarcerated.

The longstanding feud between Bhoge and Wasim in Shanti Nagar adds a backdrop of animosity.

Fatal Feud and Violent End for Anwar

According to police sources, Wasim had enticed Anwar to join him for a feast at a liquor bar in Kalamna.

This gathering was likely an orchestrated opportunity to address a conflict.

Wasim and the group decided to dine at a farmland where Wasim purportedly fatally stabbed Anwar, despite limited resistance from the others present. Following the murder, Wasim allegedly coerced the group into concealing Anwar’s body within a sack, later disposing of it within the rural district limits.

Internal Turmoil and Wasim’s History of Discord

Wasim’s propensity for confrontation extended to members within his own gang. He was known to engage in disputes, often fueled by suspicion, with fellow gang members.

The search for Wasim Cheera continues as police strive to unravel the intricate web of motives and connections underlying this perplexing case.
