In a significant development, the Bund Garden police detained three individuals suspected of being associated with the notorious gangster Baba Bodke. Sandeep alias Balasaheb Thorve (42) of Shukrawar Peth, Vijay Ghodke (32), and Kashinath Netke (22), both residing on Tadiwala road, were arrested on Monday.
The trio is accused of issuing threats to an elderly couple who own a well-known restaurant in Koregaon Park. They have been placed under police custody until November 14.
Legal Proceedings and Involved Parties
This arrest comes in the wake of the police previously booking Meenu Anil Sharma alias Meenu Surendra Mehta of Koregaon Park, Yogesh alias Rajan Keshav Nangre, and Piyush Ganesh Acharya, along with Baba Bodke and others, in connection to the case.
The incident revolves around the reported entry of Bodke and his associates onto the premises with firearms, allegedly issuing threats to Krishnadevi Prempal Sharma (67) and her husband.
The couple had lodged a formal complaint with the police, stating that they were subjected to menacing threats and dire consequences by Bodke and his accomplices.
Property Dispute Linked to Threats
The complainant, Krishnadevi Prempal Sharma, highlighted that the incident is intertwined with a property dispute. Their son, who had been married to Meenu, passed away a few months prior.
According to the complainant, their daughter-in-law had expressed a desire to acquire the property, including the restaurant.
Allegedly, she sought the assistance of Baba Bodke in this matter. The situation escalated to the point where the elderly couple reported feeling threatened and coerced.
Legal Implications and Ongoing Investigation
With the recent arrests of the aforementioned suspects, the legal proceedings surrounding this case are expected to intensify.
The three apprehended individuals, Sandeep Thorve, Vijay Ghodke, and Kashinath Netke, remain in police custody as the investigation continues to unfold.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged threats and their connections to the broader context of the property dispute are being meticulously examined by law enforcement authorities.
