PUNE, September 6, 2012

The Pune police filed a chargesheet on Wednesday containing startling information about Indian Mujahideen operative Qateel Siddiqui’s alleged intention to orchestrate a second bombing attempt at the renowned Dagdusheth Ganapati temple, should he be released from custody.

Siddiqui, who was strangled to death inside the high-security ‘anda’ cell of Yerawada central jail on June 8, reportedly made this claim during a conversation with gangster Alok Bhalerao.

The incident has raised questions about the circumstances leading to Siddiqui’s demise and the individuals involved, including gangster Sharad Mohol.

Timeline of Events and Siddiqui’s Arrest History

The case stems from Siddiqui’s arrest by Delhi police on November 22, 2011, followed by his transfer to Maharashtra ATS custody on May 3.

The aim was to aid investigations into a suspected bomb planting endeavor near the Dagdusheth Ganapati temple on February 13, 2010, a date notorious for the German Bakery blast.

Details of Interaction Leading to Tragic Consequences

Following his transfer to Yerawada jail and detention in judicial custody till June 8, Siddiqui reportedly crossed paths with gangster Sharad Mohol and Alok Bhalerao, both of whom were incarcerated under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act.

The chargesheet sheds light on a conversation that transpired between Siddiqui and Bhalerao while taking a stroll outside the ‘anda’ cell.

In this exchange, Bhalerao allegedly queried how Siddiqui could find sleep after causing the deaths of numerous individuals.

Responding with a disturbing statement, Siddiqui purportedly boasted that he possessed capabilities that surpassed the reach of others like Bhalerao.
