Pune Gangland: Bishnoi Gang Exploits Social Media to Lure Youth: Pune Rural Police Issues Caution
By India Crime Correspondent
Pune, 18th June 2022:
The Bishnoi gang, known for its association with the high-profile murder case of renowned Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, has been found utilizing social media platforms as a means to showcase their influence and authority.
Pune Rural Superintendent of Police, Abhinav Deshmukh, has raised an alarm against this manipulative strategy, urging the youth to exercise caution and not succumb to these nefarious attempts. In a press conference held in Pune, he shed light on the unsettling revelation.
Youth Vulnerability to Online Inducements
The criminal members affiliated with the Bishnoi gang have resorted to the exploitation of social media to allure and engage the impressionable youth into their illicit activities.
Employing a range of images and short videos, these criminals entice young individuals via social platforms. Regrettably, many unsuspecting youths have fallen victim to this digital ploy.
Advisory Against Unwanted Influence
Addressing this disconcerting trend, Deshmukh remarked, “Even youngsters from well-regarded families are becoming followers of criminal-run social media accounts. Liking or following such accounts may not be deemed illegal, but it does shed light on the prevailing interests of today’s youth. Merely registering a criminal case is not a comprehensive solution. It is equally imperative to offer guidance and counseling to the parents of these impressionable children.”
As the battle for influence and control extends into the virtual realm, the Pune Rural Police underscore the necessity for vigilant online behavior among the youth.
With the Bishnoi gang’s brazen endeavors to manipulate impressionable minds via social media, authorities emphasize the importance of fostering awareness and promoting informed decisions to safeguard the younger generation from becoming unwitting pawns in the hands of criminals.
