A significant breakthrough for the Pune crime branch unfolded as a 23-year-old individual was apprehended, leading to the confiscation of a foreign-made pistol and two live cartridges. The suspect in question has been identified as Pappu Ganpat Uttekar, hailing from Mutha village in Mulshi taluka. This operation was carried out under the guidance of inspector Bapusaheb Kutwal.
Targeted Operation Yields Results
India Crime Correspondent was informed by Kutwal that police constables Asif Patel and Krishna Badhe received critical information regarding Uttekar’s presence at Parihar Chowk in Aundh.
Acting swiftly on the provided intelligence, law enforcement officers set a trap, ultimately leading to the apprehension of Uttekar.
The resultant search yielded the foreign-made pistol and two accompanying cartridges.
Suspect’s Connections to Gang Activities and Illegal Arms Trade
As the investigation delved deeper, a concerning connection came to light. Uttekar was revealed to have played a role in supplying two pistols and six cartridges to Arjun Sable, a known associate of gangster Sharad Mohol.
The suspect’s criminal history casts a shadow, as he carries previous cases related to kidnapping, extortion, and illegal possession of firearms.
Police Custody Granted
Following the arrest, Uttekar was presented before the court and subsequently remanded to police custody until November 3.
The investigative efforts now aim to trace the origins of the foreign-made weapon found in Uttekar’s possession, shedding light on the larger network behind these illicit activities.
