Pune Gangland: Rampage by Koyata Gang Leaves 40 Vehicles Damaged in Pune’s Market Yard Area

A chaotic scene unfolded in Pune’s Market Yard area as a gang of approximately 10 to 15 individuals, reportedly including individuals with criminal records, embarked on a rampage, causing extensive damage to nearly 40 vehicles parked along the streets of Ambedkar Nagar.

The incident, which transpired on Wednesday night, was further marred by an alleged attack on a local resident using a sharp-edged weapon.

Swift action by Pune police led to the apprehension of four suspects connected to the incident.

Perpetrators Apprehended

Among those detained are Kiran Thorat (25), Sagar Lokhande (22), Sachin Mane (22), and Somnath Shinde (21).

Police are actively pursuing the remaining seven individuals involved in the incident.

The arrested individuals are facing charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including those related to robbery, causing hurt, and unlawful assembly, as well as pertinent provisions of the Criminal Law Amendment Act.

Chronology of Events

According to authorities, the accused individuals, armed with sharp-edged weapons, descended upon Ambedkar Nagar around 10:45 pm on Wednesday, allegedly with the intention of sowing fear within the locality.

In the course of their actions, they targeted Kalim Shaikh’s wada pav and kebab stall, pilfering money, and also conducted a raid on the residence of Salim Ansari, making off with cash.

Moreover, their violent tendencies led them to assault Mustafa Shaikh, leaving him injured due to the use of a sharp-edged weapon.

Vehicles Bear the Brunt

The rampage extended to the realm of property damage as well, with the marauders wreaking havoc on around 40 vehicles parked in the vicinity.

The victims of this vehicular carnage included a range of two-wheelers, four-wheelers, and autorickshaws.

Ongoing investigations are aimed at ascertaining the precise motivations and factors that triggered this destructive outbreak.
