Pune Gangland: Verdict in 2012 Qateel Siddiqui Murder Case: Gangster Sharad Mohol and Alok Bhalerao Acquitted

A significant legal outcome emerged as gangster Sharad Mohol and his associate Alok Bhalerao were acquitted by a sessions court on Wednesday.
The duo had faced allegations of involvement in the murder of Indian Mujahideen (IM) operative Mohammed Qateel Siddiqui within the confines of Yerawada central jail in 2012.
Context of the Victim
Siddiqui, who hailed from Darbhanga in Bihar, had been apprehended in connection with the 2010 German Bakery bomb blast case. He was housed in the high-security wing of Yerawada jail.
The Alleged Incident
Tragedy struck on June 8, 2012, when Siddiqui was reportedly strangled to death by two fellow inmates, namely Sharad Mohol and Alok Bhalerao. The case led to an FIR being lodged against them at Yerwada police station.
