Pune Gangland: Three Members of Gawli Gang Apprehended in Extortion Case

In a significant development, the Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Pune Rural Police has successfully apprehended three individuals and filed charges against two others associated with the notorious Daddy alias Arun Gawli gang.
The arrests are in connection with an alleged extortion scheme targeting a local businessman.
Legal Action Initiated
A formal First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged with Manchar Police Station detailing the incident.
Among the arrested individuals are Mobin Mehmood Mujawar, a resident of Dagdi Chawl in Byculla, Mumbai, who hails from Vadgaon Peer in Ambegaon taluka of Pune district; Suraj Rajesh Yadav, also from Vadgaon Peer; and Bala Sudam Pathare from Chandan Nagar. Additionally, legal actions have been initiated against a woman known as ‘Mummy’ and an associate of Yadav.
Threats and Harassment Alleged
According to law enforcement officials, Mobin is the son of Gawli’s wife’s brother.
Mobin, along with Yadav, reportedly issued threats against the businessman, demanding an extortion amount of Rs five lakh. Pathare, on the other hand, confronted the businessman’s staff at his Wagholi shop, further escalating the intimidation tactics.
The accused also coerced the businessman into speaking with the woman over the phone, reiterating their demand for money.
Victim Takes Action
Frustrated by the sustained harassment, the businessman decided to take action and lodged a formal complaint with Manchar Police Station.
Recognizing the severity of the case, Superintendent of Police Suvez Haque transferred the investigation to the LCB, headed by Police Inspector Dayanand Gawde.
Gawli Gang Affiliation
In light of the ongoing investigation, Mobin, Yadav, and Pathare were subsequently arrested. The trio is known to be associated with the Gawli gang.
It has been revealed that Mobin serves as a personal assistant to Asha Arun Gawli.
The successful arrests underscore the persistent efforts of law enforcement to dismantle criminal networks and maintain public safety.
