The eagerly anticipated judgment in the Sagar Sahani murder case, involving the tragic kidnapping and alleged murder of the twenty-two-year-old son of businessman Satinder Sahani, has been postponed to December 4. Eleven individuals are currently facing trial in connection with this case.

Details of Kidnapping and Subsequent Murder

In the backdrop of a heart-wrenching incident, Sagar Sahani, hailing from Yamunanagar in Nigdi, was abducted on August 14, 2005.

His fate took a devastating turn as he was purportedly murdered on August 24, just a day after his family had reportedly paid a ransom of Rs 15 lakh to Dubai-based gangster bid Ali in Mumbai.

Sagar’s lifeless body was discovered on August 26 along the Mumbai-Vapi highway.

Eleven Suspects Under Scrutiny, Key Witnesses Take Stand

The investigative wheels set in motion as the crime branch arrested 15 out of 16 suspects linked to the case.

Proceedings against 11 of these suspects were initiated on June 21, 2011. Notably, one accused, Shantilal Modha, who had been granted bail, passed away during the course of the trial.

Furthermore, another suspect, Narayanbhai Govindbhai Jameriya, assumed the role of an approver, shedding light on the intricate details of the crime.

Search for Missing Suspects Continues

While some suspects have faced legal proceedings, others have remained elusive. Hawala operator Shamshuddin Mohammad Kunni from Kerala has been on the run since his release on medical grounds in 2007.

The trial against bid Ali has been suspended due to his confinement in a Hyderabad jail. Efforts to secure his custody have been in vain.

Future Actions Hinge on Bid Ali’s Custody

The trial against bid Ali is slated to proceed once he is handed over to the Pune police. Legal proceedings were bifurcated due to his detention in a Hyderabad jail, leading to a temporary pause in the proceedings.

A red corner notice remains in effect for Vicky alias Aftab Alam Mohammad Ayub, the 16th suspect, believed to be situated in Sharjah.

Examination of Witnesses Shapes the Case

Over the course of the trial, a comprehensive array of testimonies has been presented, involving a total of 56 witnesses.

As the legal proceedings draw closer to a conclusion, the fate of the accused and the quest for justice for Sagar Sahani remain at the forefront.
