Pune Gangland: Pune Takes Preventive Measures Against 10,973 Criminals to Curb Crime

As a response to the surge in criminal activities, including incidents involving Koyta (chopper) gangs, chain snatching from two-wheelers, homicides, and burglaries, the police have initiated preventive measures targeting 10,973 criminals in the city.
The primary objective of this action is to curb criminal activities and maintain law and order, particularly in light of the rising incidents involving the notorious Koyta gang.
Rigorous Monitoring: Police Keep Close Watch on Criminals
In a bid to effectively monitor criminal movements, every police station across the city and the crime branch team have been directed to closely track the activities of known criminals.
The police have meticulously compiled a comprehensive list of 30,000 individuals who have been involved in serious criminal offenses within the city.
This proactive campaign aims to clamp down on criminal activities, ensuring regular checks on these individuals.
Enhanced Security Measures: Focused on Sensitive Locations
Sensitive locations within the city have been fortified with enhanced security measures.
In an effort to maintain public safety, authorities have directed their attention to key spots vulnerable to criminal activities.
Additionally, four individuals within the city have been incarcerated under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) for a duration of one year.
Fighting Crime: City Witnesses Busts and Crackdowns
The crime branch has reported significant progress in their efforts against criminal activities.
A total of 43 criminals within the city have been apprehended, and stern action has been initiated against 75 individuals affiliated with 12 separate criminal gangs.
These actions have been executed under the provisions of the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA), signaling a resolute response to organized criminal operations.
Equipping Police: Strengthening Patrolling and Special Units
To effectively tackle criminal activities, the police force is undergoing enhancements.
Patrolling officers will be equipped with pistols and modern bikes to bolster their capabilities.
Moreover, a dedicated team of well-trained police personnel will be formed to respond swiftly and effectively to criminal activities, ensuring a robust approach to law enforcement.
