Pune Gangland: Gang Rivalry Behind Hospital Attack on History-Sheeter; Four Arrested: Authorities

The recent assault on Tushar Hambir (35), a history-sheeter, within Sassoon Hospital on Monday night has been identified as a consequence of an ongoing gang rivalry, as per the police’s preliminary findings.
The attack resulted in injuries to two individuals, including a police officer. Presently, four suspects have been apprehended in connection with the incident, and efforts are underway to locate the fifth accomplice involved.
Hospital Assault Unveiled
During the course of Monday night, a violent encounter unfolded within Sassoon General Hospital in Pune.
A faction of attackers, armed with sharp-edged weapons, targeted Tushar Hambir, who had been under treatment at the state-administered hospital since August 25.
In the aftermath of the incident, two persons were wounded, including a police guard on active duty at the hospital premises.
Armed Confrontation
The assailants, totaling five in number, carried a menacing array of weaponry, encompassing firearms, swords, and other sharp implements, according to police reports.
Hambir, a figure linked to an organized criminal group and associated with the radical entity Hindu Rashtra Sena, found himself within the crosshairs of the assailants within the hospital’s confines.
Around 9:30 pm on Monday, this group of suspects infiltrated the ward housing Hambir.
Foiled Attempt
During their assault, one of the assailants endeavored to discharge a firearm aimed at Hambir.
However, a malfunction in the weapon prevented this attempt from materializing. Unfazed, the remaining assailants resorted to wielding sharp-edged weapons to further their attack.
Heroic Intervention
Amidst the turmoil, Constable Amol Bagad, fulfilling his on-duty responsibilities, courageously interceded to impede the attackers’ progress.
Unfortunately, the incident resulted in injuries not only to Hambir but also to his brother-in-law Shubham Randad, who happened to be present at the scene.
Swift Action and Investigation
Following the unsettling incident, law enforcement swiftly initiated investigative efforts. Five dedicated inquiry teams were assembled to address the situation.
By leveraging insights garnered from security surveillance footage, the police successfully identified and apprehended a quartet of suspects allegedly involved in the attack.
The ongoing search is focused on locating the fifth individual associated with the assault.
