Pune Gangland: Bapu Nayar Gang Members Apprehended During In-Progress Dacoity

Foiling a dacoity attempt at a Thergaon petrol pump, the crime branch of Pune police has successfully apprehended seven individuals associated with the Bapu Nayar gang. The arrest unfolded on Thursday evening as the gang was in the midst of carrying out their criminal operation.

Evidence of Criminal Endeavors Seized

During the operation, law enforcement confiscated a range of incriminating items from the apprehended gang members. These items include a revolver, four cartridges, two sickles, chili powder, nylon rope, an iron pipe, adhesive tape, 10 mobile phones, a sum of Rs 13,520 in cash, and two vehicles. The combined value of these seized items is estimated at Rs 4.6 lakh.

Profiles of the Detained Individuals

The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Vinod Bhimrao Bansode (22), Dattatraya Anand Pawar (31), Nilesh Shrinivas Baswant (21), Hanumant Kisan Bangude (30), all hailing from Upper Indira Nagar in Bibwewadi, Nandakumar Kshirsagar from Dandekar Bridge slum, Alon Ashok Gawli (24) from Pashan, and Riyaz Shaikh (35) from Budhwar Peth.

Successful Operation Triggers Arrests

Prompted by a credible tip-off, the anti-extortion cell of the Pune police crime branch, led by assistant inspector Krantikumar Patil and composed of dedicated officers including Pradeep Jambhale, Pandurang Wanjale, Balasaheb Jarad, Vilas Gujar, Kashinath Jagtap, Mahadev Dimble, Anil Shinde, Pravin Shirke, Arvind Mhaske, Kashinath Ubhe, and Ganesh Mali, sprung into action.

The group managed to apprehend the gang members in close proximity to Pandit petrol pump.

Legal Steps Initiated

A formal complaint concerning this incident has been lodged at the Hinjewadi police station. Inspector Kishor Jadhav from the anti-extortion cell affirmed that the gang’s leader, Nayar, remains at large.

Extensive Criminal Portfolio

Elaborating on the criminal history of the Nayar gang, Inspector Jadhav stated that the group has been implicated in a range of serious offenses including murder, attempted murder, extortion, violations of the Arms Act, and rioting.

Bansode, Kshirsagar, Paware, Baswant, Gawli, and Bamgude, among the detained individuals, have a history of criminal activities.

Operating predominantly in the Dhankawdi and Bibwewadi regions, the gang was reportedly engaged in extorting money from local stall owners.
