The Pune police have successfully apprehended an individual with a criminal history, confiscating a country-made pistol along with three live cartridges from his possession.
The suspect in question has been identified as Pappu alias Shivaji Nathu Sashthe (30), hailing from Sambhajinagar Dhanakwadi. The Faraskhana police team, led by Sub-Inspector Geeta Bagawade, executed the arrest.
Covert Operation Unveils Criminal Intent to Sell Firearm
Acting on reliable intelligence, the police initiated a covert operation in Ganesh Peth. The operation targeted a suspect allegedly associated with the gang of Nilesh Ghaywal, who was believed to be attempting to sell a pistol.
Despite the suspect’s attempt to flee upon sighting the police team, a pursuit ensued and the suspect, Sashthe, was apprehended.

In the course of the ensuing interrogation, Sashthe reportedly divulged his affiliation with gangster Nilesh Ghaywal.
Sashthe’s criminal record includes charges of murder, attempted murder, dacoity, and robberies filed across various police stations within the city.
Suspect’s History Includes Murder Case
Further investigation uncovered Sashthe’s prior involvement in a murder case, specifically the killing of Sachin Kudle, for which he was arrested by the Dattawadi police station.
In addition, Sashthe faces charges under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act. His recent release from judicial custody underscores the complexity of addressing repeat offenders.
Sashthe Booked U/S 3 of the Arms Act
In response to the discovery of the illicit firearm, Geeta Bagawade stated that legal action has been taken against Sashthe.
He has been booked under section 3 of the Arms Act, highlighting the seriousness of possessing unlawful weaponry.
This operation showcases the police department’s ongoing efforts to curtail criminal activities and disrupt gang-related endeavors.
